We’re excited to share that Sam Nelson has been promoted to Quality Resource Manager at Citizens State Bank!
Sam’s journey with Citizens began in July 2019 as an Audit Specialist, and since then, she’s been a steady and solution-driven presence across the organization. She has consistently demonstrated an ability to zoom in on the details while keeping an eye on the broader goal—especially when it comes to quality control in both retail and lending.
Following our core conversion, Sam quickly became our in-house systems problem-solver, often stepping in to help others troubleshoot and navigate new processes. She played a vital role during our most recent compliance exam, and her ability to train and mentor others has uplifted not only her department but colleagues across the bank.
What truly sets Sam apart is her collaborative mindset and calm, clear approach to challenges. She leads with consistency, care, and a deep understanding of the bigger picture—all while embodying our Citizens values in everything she does.
When she’s not making an impact at work, Sam is all about family and fun. She and her husband Michael stay busy with their three daughters—Eleanor, Amelia, and Violet—spending quality time camping, watching movies, and playing games together. In her downtime, Sam loves puzzles, a good book, and even knitting (she admits she’s a bit of an “old soul” at heart 😄). She and her husband are currently working on building their dream home and have road-tripped through about 25 states along the way—though Sam’s idea of a perfect vacation doesn’t involve leaving the country anytime soon!
